Acclaimed actor, producer, director and narrator, Danny DeVito, will join famed film composer David Newman and the Houston Symphony at the world premiere of Matilda: Film with Live Orchestra at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on June 9 at 8 p.m. Come early to enjoy the Hats Off to Reading Celebration where kids can receive a free book and participate in games and crafts. The Woodlands, Texas – Since 1990, each summer, young professional musicians descend upon the University of Houston campus for a four-week intensive orchestral fellowship program. Each musician accepted into the program receives a fellowship that offers a dynamic opportunity to learn from distinguished artists from the Moores and Shepherd schools of music faculty as well as members of the Houston Symphony. The program culminates at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion where the Texas Music Festival Orchestra will take the Main Stage for a free concert Friday, June 23 at 8 p.m. under Guest Conductor Brett Mitchell. Tickets are not required for free seating.

In May 2016, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Board of Directors unanimously approved a major construction plan that will touch nearly every part of the venue. The projects include a newly constructed VIP Club and operations building, new canopies at the concessions and entrance gates as well as a refresh to the dressing rooms.
