THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – Since 1990, each summer, young professional musicians descend upon the University of Houston campus for a four-week intensive orchestral fellowship program. Each musician accepted into the program receives a fellowship that offers a dynamic opportunity to learn from distinguished artists from the Moores and Shepherd schools of music faculty as well as members of the Houston Symphony. The program culminates at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion where the Texas Music Festival Orchestra will take the Main Stage for a free concert Friday, June 22 at 8 p.m. under Guest Conductor Carlos Spierer. Tickets are not required for free seating.
THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – The Woodlands ChamberFest recently returned to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for a seventh year of lessons from notable Julliard alumni. Over thirty-five students attended the week-long chamber music program for students in grades 7 through 12 who play violin, viola, cello and bass. As one of The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs, the summer music camp is dedicated to teaching communication, collaboration and leadership through chamber music.
THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – On Wednesday, June 13, you can catch a screening of Steven Spielberg's Jaws at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The Houston Symphony will perform the movie's suspenseful score live, as the action unfolds on the venue’s giant screens. Tickets for the 8 p.m. performance are $20 for reserved orchestra seating. Mezzanine and lawn seating are free. Gates open at 7 p.m.
