The Pavilion Ranked No. 2 Outdoor Amphitheater in the World for Tickets Sold in 2022

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion recently ranked second in the top 100 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold in 2022, according to Pollstar magazine, the concert industry’s leading trade publication. The Pavilion’s ticket sales totaled 476,018 for concerts between November 18, 2021, and November 16, 2022, which also places the venue fourth in the world in terms of gross sales for the year.

“The Pavilion had an incredible season of providing world-class entertainment to The Woodlands and beyond,” said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion. “We are fortunate to work with our dedicated partner Live Nation, the No. 1 concert promoter in the world, and for our supportive community and hardworking staff. The Pollstar report is reflective of this season’s first-class entertainment including Chris Stapleton, Parker McCollum, Stevie Nicks, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull with Iggy Azalea, Backstreet Boys, Koe Wetzel, Jimmy Buffett, Rod Stewart and many more. In addition to its lineup of contemporary entertainment, The Pavilion presented a successful performing arts season featuring inspiring performances by the Houston Symphony, in addition to several educational outreach programs.   

Other venues recognized on Pollstar magazine’s list for top gross sales include Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI at No. 1; Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA at No. 2; Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD; and, Waldbühne Berlin in Berlin, Germany at No. 5. Other Texas venues on the list include The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving at No. 28, Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas at No. 42, Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels at No. 51, Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin at No. 77, and Moddy Amphitheater at Waterloo Park in Austin at No. 97.
