Arts Travel Grants

Arts Travel Grants aim to support public school arts programs by enabling ensemble travel for invitational or competitive performances and exhibitions based on special invitations, recognition of excellence or achievement. Eligible applicants are 5th-12th grade public school arts curriculum programs located in Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Waller or Walker County.

The Arts Travel Grant 2025-2026 application will open on August 11, 2025.

Eligible Applicants 

  • Eligible applicants are 5th-12th grade public school arts curriculum programs in visual arts, music, theatre, dance or film. 
  • Submission of the application may be made by the instructor, program administrator, fine arts coordinator, principal, or representative of the school district that teaches or administers the program or curriculum. 
  • Eligible programs must be located in a public school within Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Waller or Walker County. Active charter schools approved by TEA are also eligible for this grant. 
  • Applicant may only receive one grant per school year. 

Activities Eligible for Grant Funding 

  • The maximum grant amount for this program is $15,000.
  • An eligible performance travel event requires a special invitation or recognition of excellence. The ensemble must travel beyond its usual scheduled annual performances for the year. Examples of eligible travel would be for progression beyond the usual district UIL competition (i.e., regional or state finals), highlight performances at a conference or convention, invitational performances at a recognized competition or events beyond regular performance opportunities.   
  • Purchases made with grant funds must occur before May 31 of the school year in which the grant was made. 
  •  Grant funding may be paid to schools, school districts, school art curriculum programs or 501(c)(3) nonprofit booster/support organizations related to eligible applicants.
