The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is looking for volunteers to assist with the inaugural event set for May 20 and 21 along The Woodlands Waterway® in The Woodlands Town Center. The festival needs approximately 400 volunteers over the weekend to assist in areas such as guest relations, artist relations, children’s art activities and the performing arts stage. Volunteers are asked to work at least one four-hour shift and will receive free admission to the festival and a festival t-shirt featuring artwork created by Scott Swezy, the festival's featured artist. Individuals as well as charity groups may volunteer.
Arts-related charity groups that provide volunteers for the festival can also apply to be beneficiary charities, or Charity Partners, of the event; proceeds will be donated to local nonprofits for arts-related programs. Organizations interested in applying to be Charity Partners must be located in Montgomery County and have an involvement with the arts or arts-related programs, including school fine arts and theater booster groups. Selected Charity Partners will receive a portion of the net proceeds of the festival based on the number of volunteer hours contributed on behalf of their organization.
Information about the Charity Partner Selection Process and application instructions are available at www.woodlandsartfestival.com. The Charity Partner application deadline is March 15.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local organizations to participate in an event that will be visited by thousands of people—adults and children," said Brenda Gottlieb, festival chairwoman. "As the festival grows, selected volunteer Charity Partners will be able to raise more funds for their arts-related programs, as well as help increase awareness of the arts in general."
