he Woodlands, TX – The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival holds its second annual event April 14 and 15, 2007. The festival is a juried fine art show featuring 200 national and regional artists of various mediums selling their original creations. Festival hours are 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Proceeds from the festival benefit local arts-related organizations.
The event takes place along the meandering Waterway from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center alongside The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and culminating at Town Green Park. This beautifully landscaped site in the heart of The Woodlands features ample parking, water taxi and trolley service along the entire length of the festival, concessions within the festival site, and an array of eateries and shops within walking distance of the festival.
The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival announced the selection of Barbara Franklet as the featured artist for the second annual event. Franklet, a longtime resident of Houston, is no stranger to the festival art scene. She has been an artist at the Bayou City Arts Festival for the past eight years and was one of the 200 artists at the inaugural Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival in May 2006.
The Woodlands Children’s Museum presents “Artopoly” interactive art activities for children in Town Green Park. The park also is the site of an exhibition of 12th grade student art from public and private schools in Montgomery County. There is also entertainment on two stages and the “Palette Café” featuring food from signature eateries that provides guests with places to relax and kick back.
"The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival has generated a tremendous amount of interest from many touring fine artists throughout the United States," said Lynette Wallace, festival director. "The artists are excited about this event and look forward to the beautiful locale and the art patrons it attracts."
