The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, hosts its 11th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction Feb. 8 at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands. The wine and hors d’oeuvres reception begins at 5 p.m. followed by a seated dinner at 6:30 p.m. The cost to attend the event, which raises money for The Pavilion’s educational programming and Partners Scholarship Fund, is $175 per person.

In addition to fine food and a variety of wines - wines sponsored by Northern Trust - the evening includes a live auction, bid board auction and silent auction featuring a selection of wine-related items, leisure packages, private dinners and tastings and more. Net proceeds from the live auction benefit The Pavilion Partners Scholarship Fund. The remaining net proceeds from the event benefit The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs such as Children’s Festival and Musical Scores.

Last year, more than $104,000 was raised at this event, with $53,000 from the live auction benefiting the scholarship fund. In 2008, The Pavilion Partners awarded $71,500 in scholarships to 23 graduating high school seniors from 10 area high schools and 29 renewal scholarships to recipients studying fine arts in college. Scholarships are awarded to students in the following categories: vocal music, instrumental music, theatre arts, dance, visual arts and computer graphic arts. The awards, based on talent and academic performance, are presented each spring. Since its inception, The Pavilion Partners has awarded more than $390,000 in scholarships to students studying the arts.

The 11th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction honors Nelda Luce and Jim Blair for their generous support of the arts, The Pavilion and the entire community. The Blair’s are both native Texans who combined have practice law more than 65 years. They have been long-time activists in local, state and national political campaigns and supporters of many organizations and charities. The Blair’s currently serve on several boards. Also Nelda is the elected chairman of The Woodlands Township and a former member of The Pavilion’s Board of Directors. The Blair’s often open their home to guests, offer their classic cars and antique boat, and dedicate their time to many worthy causes.

The 11th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction committee includes Bunny Benditz, Becki Borth, Sylvia Caracio, Mike Cote, Gaye Craig, Linda Feld, Keith Ferry, Cindy Notarainni, Jeff Shipley and Nancy Watts. Co-chairmen are Randy Lowry and Sol Sachs.
