The Woodlands, TX – The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, raised nearly $115,000 at the organization’s 9th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction held Feb. 25 at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands. Of the money raised, approximately $89,000 was generated from the live auction specifically for The Pavilion Partners Scholarship Fund. The remaining revenue, approximately $25,000 generated from the dinner, bid board and silent auction, benefits The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs and performing arts events.
With 184 guests in attendance, the live auction featured a selection of wine-related items and leisure packages, including rare wines, trips to Napa, Hawaii and Mexico, and an exclusive wine cellar dinner for 10. The exclusive Napa Getaway for eight went for a high bid of $27,000.
“This year’s Wine Dinner & Auction was a record-breaking event,” said Randy Lowry, president of The Pavilion Partners and co-chairman of the event. “We would like to thank Northern Trust for their generous sponsorship of the evening’s wines, all those who donated the various auction items and everyone who attended this phenomenal event. The fact that we can raise almost $90,000 by auctioning nine items is fantastic. I have to credit our auctioneer, Ralph McIngvale, for his ability to work the crowd, making sure everyone was having a good time, and keeping everyone focused on why we were there, which was to raise money for fine arts scholarships.”
Last year, more than $60,000 was raised at this event and The Pavilion Partners awarded $38,500 in scholarships to 20 graduating high school seniors and 12 renewal scholarships recipients studying fine arts in college. Scholarships are awarded to students in the following categories: vocal music, instrumental music, theatre arts, dance, visual arts and computer graphic arts. The awards, based on talent and academic performance, are presented each spring. Since its inception, The Pavilion Partners has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to students studying the arts.
The 9th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction also honored two very special guests, Jacque and Lloyd Everson of The Woodlands, for their generous support of the arts, The Pavilion and the community. Each year, Partners bestows a special scholarship in the name of individuals who have made a special commitment to The Pavilion during the year. The 2007 Pavilion Partners Scholarship honors Jacque and Lloyd.
Launched in 1998, The Pavilion Partners is an important part of The Pavilion and its many educational programs. Partners supports The Pavilion through fund-raising for the performing arts and educational outreach programs, as well as awarding fine arts scholarships each spring. In addition to their fund-raising efforts, The Pavilion Partners provides event volunteers for performances and programs at The Pavilion throughout the year.
