The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, hosts its 8th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction Feb. 26 at a new location, The Club at Carlton Woods, located at One Carlton Woods Drive in The Woodlands. The wine and hors d’oeuvres reception begins at 5 p.m. followed by a seated dinner, featuring wines by Flora Springs Vineyards, at 6:30 p.m. The cost to attend the event, which raises money for The Pavilion Partners Scholarship Fund, is $125 per person.

“We are excited about moving to a new venue this year,” said Randy Lowry, event co-chairman, about the move to The Club at Carlton Woods. “The new location allows us to maintain the intimacy, elegance and charm of Amerigo’s, the previous host venue, while allowing more individuals to participate in this sensational event."

In addition to fine food and wines, the evening includes live and silent auctions featuring a selection of wine-related items, leisure packages, private dinners and tastings, and more. Proceeds from the auctions benefit The Pavilion Partners Scholarship Fund.

Last year, more than $57,000 was raised at this event. In 2005, The Pavilion Partners awarded $28,000 in scholarships to 17 graduating high school seniors from seven local high schools and five renewal scholarships to recipients studying fine arts in college. Scholarships are awarded to students in the following categories: vocal music, instrumental music, theatre arts, dance, visual arts and computer graphic arts. The awards, based on talent and academic performance, are presented each spring. Since its inception, The Pavilion Partners has awarded more than $175,000 in scholarships to students studying the arts.

"The Pavilion Partners would like to thank Nancy and Casey Kosh, owners of Amerigo’s Grille, for hosting the wine dinner since its inception," Lowry said. "Because of their continued support, Partners is pleased to dedicate a fine arts scholarship in their honor.”

The 8th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction also honors longtime supporters, Kim and Robert Marling, for their dedication to the arts, The Pavilion Partners and the community. Marling is chairman and CEO of Woodforest Financial Group, Inc. and CEO of Woodforest National Bank. He also serves as the chairman of the board for The Pavilion and is on the board of the newly founded Woodforest Charitable Foundation. Kim, a former banker, is actively involved with their three children, serves as a volunteer, and also is a board member of the Woodforest Charitable Foundation. Together, the Marlings are instrumental in raising funds to support fine arts scholarships and The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs that touch the lives of thousands of children each year.

The 8th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction committee includes Bunny Benditz, Beth Bone, Becki Borth, Sylvia Caracio, Jude Compofelice, Bill Craig, Suzanne Ellis, Lillian Hargis, JoAnne Lowry, Annette Neyman, Sandra Novak and Mary Steele. Co-chairing the committee are Randy Lowry and Sol Sachs.
