The Woodlands, TX – The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, a nonprofit organization and home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, is producing its Second Annual Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament benefiting The Pavilion's performing arts events and educational outreach programs. The tournament takes place May 1 at Woodforest Golf Club at Fish Creek. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The awards presentation is set for 6:15 p.m.
"Last year we enjoyed great success in our first Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament and raised more than $20,000 to support the educational outreach and performing arts programs at The Pavilion,” said Randy Lowry, co-chairman of the golf tournament committee. “We look forward to another fun day of golf and good fellowship with our friends and patrons in support of this worthy cause."
A team of four in the Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament is $1,000 and includes play for four, plus tee packages, lunch, dinner and beverages. For an individual player, the fee is $250 and includes one tee package, lunch, dinner and beverages. Prizes are awarded in the following categories: First Place Gross, First Place Net, Second Place Net, Third Place Net and Worst Team Score, which garners the prize of a group tennis lesson. Individual prizes include Closest to the Pin for male and female, Longest Drive for male and female, Straightest Drive and Hole in One. The putting contest and chipping contest are sponsored by Woodforest Financial Services.
Sponsorship packages for Swing for the Arts range from $200 for a Hole Sponsorship to $10,000 for a Tournament Sponsorship. Sponsors for the golf tournament include Absolute Color, Chili's, Crown Staffing, Faust Distributing, Houston Community Newspapers - The Courier, The Potpourri and The Villager, Houston Exploration, The Pepsi Bottling Group, Stibb Company, Strata Directional Technologies and Willie's Icehouse.
Launched in 1998, The Pavilion Partners plays a critical role in supporting The Pavilion through fund-raising for its performing arts and educational outreach programs. In addition to the Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament, Partners conducts an annual pre-concert fund-raiser and Wine Dinner & Auction, as well as administers the yearlong Symphony Docent Program. The organization also provides event volunteers for the numerous performances and events that take place at The Pavilion.
The Second Annual Swing for the Arts committee includes Keith Ferry, Jim Dixon, Candi Glenn, Mike Melillo, Cindy Notarainni and Debbie Stanford. Co-chairmen are Randy Lowry and Paul Beisenherz.
