Golfers get set to putt, drive and swing for the arts June 2 as The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, hosts the Fourth Annual Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament at The Woodlands Country Club Palmer Course. Players can enter the tournament in one of two categories – The Performing Arts Challenge or the new Pavilion Cup Challenge.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. June 2, followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The awards presentation is set for 6 p.m. Proceeds from the tournament benefit The Pavilion’s performing arts events and educational outreach programs.
The format for Swing for the Arts is an 18-hole, four-man scramble. As in prior years, individuals and groups can sign up to compete in four-man teams in The Performing Arts Challenge. Prizes are awarded to the top three teams.
A new addition to this year’s tournament is The Pavilion Cup Challenge where company-sponsored teams compete not only for team prizes, but the title of “The Pavilion Cup” champion. The winning team holds the title for one year and the company name is displayed on “The Pavilion Cup” located at The Pavilion year-round. Additionally, the winning team earns the title of “best company team” in the region, receives a smaller version of The Pavilion Cup for their company and is awarded a complimentary evening for up to 50 guests at one of The Pavilion’s performing arts events.
“The Pavilion Partners is excited to host its Fourth Annual Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament at The Woodlands Country Club,” said Mike Cote, committee chairman. “Our focus for the past three years has been to continually increase the money we raise to support The Pavilion’s performing arts and educational programming. Each year we look for ways to enhance the tournament to meet this objective. This year, we are introducing the option for company-sponsored teams to compete in The Pavilion Cup Challenge.”
Area companies are invited to enter their best golfers in The Pavilion Cup Challenge. A team of four is $1,250 and includes four tee packages, lunch, scoreboard social, dinner and tournament signage on the course. For individuals and groups competing in The Performing Arts Challenge, a team of four is $1,000 and individuals are $250 – both include tee packages, lunch, scoreboard social and dinner.
“We hope this new tournament option provides area businesses an opportunity to create awareness of their support for the arts while providing their employees a team-based event which to participate,” Cote said.
All tournament participants are eligible to compete for individual prizes including closest to the pin, longest drive and hole in one. Putting and chipping contests also are held prior to the 12:30 p.m. start. Other sponsorship packages are available ranging from a $200 hole sponsorship to a $10,000 tournament sponsorship.
