The “Long Hot Summer” did not stop guests from helping to raise $25,000 at The Pavilion Partners Pre-Concert Dinner & Fundraiser Aug. 16, 2013, prior to the Keith Urban concert. Money raised at the event benefits The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion’s performing arts events and educational outreach programs.
With their “Jeans On,” guests enjoyed a social hour featuring appetizers from Tommy Bahama, complimentary beer, wine and margaritas as well as line dancing lessons from Outback Western Wear. Then they were treated to a steak dinner by Outback Steak House, dessert by Kiss the Cook Cakes, special reserved seating for the concert and VIP club passes.
“Despite the inclement weather right before the event, it went off without a hitch! There was a great turnout and we were able to raise $25,000 for the performing arts and educational outreach events at The Pavilion, “ said John Robichau, co-chairman of the fundraiser. “We could not have done it without the volunteers, sponsors and guests who came together for such a great cause.”
Guests bid on items including a golf package for four at Whispering Pines Golf Club, Woodforest Golf Club and Cannongate at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center, tickets to the Justin Timberlake concert and dinner, an outdoor pizza oven, a custom-made ring from Robichau Jewelers, a Maltipoo puppy and a trip to New York City. The live auction raised approximately $11,800.
Guests had a chance to win prizes while playing the Hot Summer, Cool Ride Ring Toss and the Crazy Wheel. For $25, guests tossed rings onto bottles to earn a chance to enter a drawing for two prizes including a Hotel Galvez Spa Getaway and BMW Drive for the Weekend, and a facial at Avante Laser & Medispa. For $50, guests spun the Crazy Wheel for a chance to enter a drawing for an autographed Eli Young Guitar and western wear package, and tickets to the Houston Astros. Everyone who participated in the drawings received prizes just for playing the games.
Major sponsors of the event were Outback Steakhouse, Silver Eagle Distributors, Tommy Bahama, Kiss the Cook Cakes, Outback Western Wear and Woodlands Wine Company.
