Guests experienced a one-of-a-kind event dining on the Main Stage at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in support of the arts at The Pavilion Partners 15th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction March 24. Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Pavilion, raised approximately $125,000 at the event. Funds raised from the live auction, bid board, named scholarships and drawing, which totaled approximately $80,000, benefit The Pavilion Partners Fine Arts Scholarship Program. Since its inception, Partners has awarded more than $650,000 in scholarships to students studying the arts. The remaining net proceeds generated from ticket sales and the silent auction, approximately $45,000, benefit The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs.
“I am always surprised at how generous our community is. We truly appreciate the support from our sponsors as well as the volunteers and guests. This event could not happen without each one of them,” said Candi Glenn, co-chairwoman of the Wine Dinner & Auction. “We had more than 240 guests attend which set a record for the event. All the guests had a wonderful time dining on The Pavilion’s stage, which is such a unique opportunity.”
Guests enjoyed a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception with wines from B Cellars and were treated to the sounds of Maydwell Musical Group during the social hour of the event. Caitlin Finnie, a scholarship recipient in 2011, performed during the dinner. Following the social hour was a seated dinner by Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Shelli Moran, operating partner with Fleming’s, has been a generous supporter of the event donating the dinner at the event for the past three years. Fleming’s is a nationally acclaimed steakhouse serving prime meats and chops, fresh fish and poultry, generous salads and side orders with a unique wine list known as the “Fleming’s 100” that features more than 100 wines served by the glass.
The live auction, bid board and silent auction featured trips to Napa, Florida and Las Vegas, Astros, Dynamo and Rockets sports packages, a Sakowitz Furs beaver vest and a black cashmere with a fox trim cape, wine dinners, a custom-made ring from Robichau’s Jewelry, lavish wine baskets and more. The live auction, led by masterful auctioneer and Pavilion board member Ralph McIngvale, began with the sale of artwork donated by 2012 Partners Fine Arts Scholarship recipient Barry Carter. Also auctioned off were 20 $1,000 Fine Arts Scholarships in which five lucky people were given the chance to win a pair of pearl earrings donated by Robichau’s Jewelry. Another opportunity to support the Fine Arts Scholarships was to purchase a collectible wine glass charm for $50.
Underwriters of the event include Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Candi & Gerald Glenn, Dianne & George Lindahl III, Carol & Phil Garner, Jacque & Lloyd Everson, Lorri & Brian Petrauskas, Jude & Joe Compofelice, Sylvia Caracio, Theresa & Dr. Lamar Roemer, Arlene & Sol Sachs, Cindy Notarainni, JoAnne & Randy Lowry and The Pavilion Partners Board of Directors.

The Sachs have been active members of the community for many years, owning Walden Liquor as well as The Beverage Shoppe in Panther Creek and Grogan’s Mill since 1987. Arlene and Sol are both active members of The Pavilion Partners, Sol served as the vice president in 2009. The honorees were recognized at the event where Lowry announced that a scholarship would be awarded in their honor.
