The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, raised approximately $100,000 at the organization’s 12th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction held at The Pavilion March 28. Funds raised from the live auction and bid board, which totaled approximately $55,000, benefit The Pavilion Partners Fine Arts Scholarship Program. The remaining net proceeds generated from ticket sales and the silent auction, approximately $45,000, benefit The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs. Since its inception, Partners has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships to students studying the arts.
“For the first time in 12 years, The Pavilion Partners Wine Dinner and Auction was held on the main stage at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion,” said Randy Lowry, Wine Dinner committee co-chairman. “The stage was decorated like a Napa Valley garden party with brilliant colored linens and beautiful plants and flowers that brightened up the stage, a stage that will soon host the likes of Van Morrison, Jimmy Buffett, Sting and the Houston Symphony. It was a unique experience for all our guests.”
With 150 attendees, the live auction featured a selection of wine-related items and leisure packages, including rare wines, trips to Napa, sporting packages, a champagne cruise
around Galveston Bay, an amethyst and diamond ring, and an exclusive wine cellar dinner for 10. The live auction began with the sale of two prints by scholarship recipient Erin Hill.
The 12th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction honored Northern Trust for its generous support of the arts, The Pavilion and the entire community. Northern Trust Corporation is a leading provider of investment management, asset and fund administration, banking solutions and fiduciary services for corporations, institutions and affluent individuals worldwide. The company was recognized at the event where Lowry announced that a scholarship would be awarded in its honor. Each year, Partners bestows a special scholarship in the name of individuals who have made a special commitment to The Pavilion during the year.
“We are very pleased with the success of this year’s Wine Dinner & Auction. Due to the generous community in which we live, we were able to raise more than $100,000 for fine arts scholarships and educational programming at The Pavilion,” said Sol Sachs, Wine Dinner committee co-chairman. “We especially thank Northern Trust for its generous sponsorship of the evening’s wines and are grateful we could honor them this year.”
The 12th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction committee, co-chaired by Lowry and Sachs, includes Chardelle Adelson, Bunny Benditz, Becki Borth, Sylvia Caracio, Sue Chene, John Dantche, Keith Ferry, Sandi Galbraith, Angela Gott, Lyn Hullinger, Julie Mayrant, Shelli Moran, Cindy Notarainni, Sandra Novak, Cal Remsburg, John Robichau and Marsha Williams.
