Experience a one-of-a-kind event dining on the Main Stage at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion at the 15th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction March 24. The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Pavilion, hosts this annual event benefiting The Pavilion’s educational programming and Partners Fine Arts Scholarship Fund. A wine and hors d’oeuvres reception begins at 5 p.m. followed by a seated dinner by Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar at 6:30 p.m. The cost to attend the event is $200 per person.
In addition to fine food and a variety of premium wines from around the world, the evening includes a live auction, bid board auction and silent auction featuring trips to Napa, Florida and Las Vegas, Astros, Dynamo and Rockets sports packages, a Sakowitz Furs beaver vest and a black cashmere with a fox trim cape, wine dinners, a custom-made ring from Robichau’s Jewelry, lavish wine baskets and more. Net proceeds from the live auction benefit The Pavilion Partners Fine Arts Scholarship Fund. The remaining net proceeds from the event benefit The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs including Fine Arts Education Day, Musical Scores, Music in Motion and Children’s Festival.
Last year $129,300 was raised at this event, with $89,300 from the live auction benefiting the scholarship fund. In 2012, The Pavilion Partners awarded $61,000 in scholarships to 25 graduating high school seniors from nine area high schools and 31 renewal scholarships to recipients studying fine arts in college. Scholarships are awarded to students in the following categories: vocal music, instrumental music, theatre arts, dance and visual/graphic arts. The awards, based on talent and academic performance, are presented each spring. Since its inception, The Pavilion Partners has awarded more than $650,000 in scholarships to students studying the arts. The remaining net proceeds generated from ticket sales and the silent auction, approximately $40,000, benefit The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs.
The 15th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction honors Arlene and Sol Sachs for their generous support of the arts, The Pavilion and the entire community. The Sachs have been active members of the community for many years, owning Walden Liquor as well as The Beverage Shoppe in Panther Creek and Grogan’s Mill in 1987. Since then, three additional locations have been added. The Beverage Shoppe was voted Small Business of the Year for North Harris and Montgomery County by the Small Business Advisory Council in 1997. They both served on the Board of Trustees for their temple. Sol served on the The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 1994-97. He was nominated for Hometown Hero in 2002 and was chosen as one of the Five Who Share in 2005. Arlene and Sol are both active members of The Pavilion Partners, Sol served as the vice president in 2009. He co-chaired the Wine Dinner committee for eight years and co-chaired the Pre-Concert Fundraiser for four years.
The 15th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction committee includes Chardelle Adelson, Rodney Anderson, Joy Borneman, Beth Butler, Sylvia Caracio, Keith Ferry, Janene Hemmen, Dickie Jones, Judy Jones, Lisa Koetting, George Lindahl, JoAnne Lowry, Kelly Messenger, Brenda Mizell, Shelli Moran and Kathy Painter. Co-chairmen of the committee are Candi Glenn and Randy Lowry.

Launched in 1998, The Pavilion Partners is an important part of The Pavilion and its many educational programs. Partners supports The Pavilion through fundraising for the performing arts and educational outreach programs, as well as awarding fine arts scholarships each spring. In addition to their fund-raising efforts, The Pavilion Partners provides event volunteers for performances and programs at The Pavilion throughout the year.
