The Third Annual Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament hosted by The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, was held May 21 at The Woodlands Country Club’s Palmer Course. Approximately 126 golfers braved the weather to generate approximately $38,000 for The Pavilion’s performing arts and educational outreach programs. Rain could not dampen the spirits of the golfers as they enjoyed a great day of fun and golf.

The winning team with the lowest gross score of 54 was from Emerson Process Management and included Dodd Mize, Chris Tran, Andrew Lorys and Tom Malone. Other awards were given for First, Second and Third Place Net. The First Place Net team was Darryl Platt, Xavier Alvarado, JD Villaseñor and David Smitherman from Live Nation. Individual prizes included Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Straightest Drive.

“Despite the brief rain delay, this year’s Swing for the Arts Golf Tournament was a tremendous success,” said Paul Beisenherz, Pavilion Partners Board member and co-chairman of the event. “We would like to thank Live Nation, Kilgore Industries, US Oncology, CB&I and Woodforest Financial Services for their generous sponsorship of this tournament. Everyone had fun, played great golf and raised thousands for The Pavilion’s educational and arts programs.”

Other sponsors of the tournament included Chili's, Coors, Houston Community Newspapers - The Courier and The Villager, The Pepsi Bottling Group and Willie's Grill & Icehouse.

“We would not have been able to put on this first-class tournament without the help of my co-chairman, Jim Dixon, The Pavilion Partners volunteers, and Bill Langley and the outstanding staff of The Woodlands Country Club,” Beisenherz said. “I also would like to thank everyone who played and donated raffle items for the event.”

Launched in 1998, The Pavilion Partners is an important part of The Pavilion. Partners supports The Pavilion through fund-raising for the performing arts and educational outreach programs, as well as awarding fine arts scholarships each spring. In addition to their fund-raising efforts, The Pavilion Partners provides event volunteers for performances and programs at The Pavilion throughout the year.
