Volunteer Highlight: Judith Bartok
It is impossible to describe Judith Bartok in few words. She is filled with boundless energy, compassion for others, and a motivation to extend education beyond the walls of the classroom. However, she would describe herself as just another pebble on a shore.
Bartok earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater and Master’s Degree in American Studies from the State University of New York. It was there that she met her husband, Peter. They have been married for over forty years and have two grown children. The family lived and traveled around the world finally settling in Texas.
Although Bartok had a high school teaching career spanning 27 years, her main goal was to provide her students with the skills needed to be successful in their lives. After retiring from teaching, Bartok joined the volunteers of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Partners because she wanted to be a part of the many educational programs the Pavilion offers children in order to enhance their education in the visual and performing arts. She became a Partner’s Board member and Chair of the Craft Committee. Bartok also serves as a member of the Scholarship Program and has worked diligently with the Children’s Festival, fundraising, and other academic activities.
In 2011, Bartok became a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children in Montgomery County (CASA). She is the voice for the children in the court system fighting for their best interests. She co-chaired the 2013 CASA Gala to raise funds for training CASA advocates. For Judith Bartok life is a work of service, dedication to the needs of her community, and commitment to education. She is a pebble that has made impressive ripples in our pond. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion 2016 Performing Arts Schedule
