The young and young at heart are invited to come out to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion to explore sights, sounds and sensations at the 16th Annual Children’s Festival. The festival takes place Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 13 from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 per person in advance or $10 per person at the door. Children under 2 are admitted free of charge. The daily admission fee includes every show and activity, so parents don’t spend the day dealing with tickets, tokens or endless lines.
The Pavilion entertains thousands with two days of non-stop fun and excitement including music, dance, theater, comedy, arts and crafts, games, hands-on activities, face painting and more! Award-winning children’s performers are a must-see with their unique ability to inspire children with programs that not only amuse, but also communicate positive messages.
Coming to the Pepsi Main Stage are performances including Thomas & FriendsTM Sing Along Adventure, STAR TREK LIVE, Lucas Miller and Richard Renner’s REcycle Show.
Thomas the Tank Engine™ is pulling into the station! Lucas Miller, the "Singing Zoologist," recognized as an "American Masterpiece" by the National Endowment for the Arts, blends music, puppetry, projected images and "zoological, stand-up comedy" to teach about monarch butterflies, wetlands, animal defenses, endangered species, symbiosis and other nature-related topics. Once described as "Dr. Doolittle, Bruce Springsteen and Robin Williams all rolled up in one," Lucas performs for about 80,000 children annually throughout the nation. He delights children and parents alike with his dynamic stage presence and songs like "The Anaconda La Bamba," "A Snake's NOT Slimy" and "Gotta Take Care of the Hive."
Stop by and see the goofy garbage man, Richard Renner, as he teaches kids to REduce, REuse and REcycle in an entertaining way. The world of trash and resources comes to life through wacky inventions, circus arts, music and interactive games. The show's focus is to teach the audience the importance of conserving our precious resources. Renner uses juggling and magic tricks with trash and recyclables to show how our personal choices affect the environment. See the attached Pepsi Main Stage schedule for performance times.
The fun continues off the main stage with interactive activities and games around every corner. The Wells Fargo Fun Zone features free balloons, face painting, hat-making, a meet and greet area and performers on the Community Stage. Head up to the top of the hill where the adventure continues and kids can build and fly kites, run parachute races, pan for gold and play in the sand. Each day of the festival ends with the Festival Finale Kazoo-Dah Parade that begins and ends in the Fun Zone.
The Adventure Zone also features hat-making and face painting along with interactive games. Make your own slime at Mad Science of Houston’s Slippery Slime booth, create your own work of art in the sidewalk chalk area, play games in the Pepsi truck, rock out with the Radio Disney Road Crew and much, much more. Children can explore the elements of art at The Villager’s Arts Alley by making crafts they can take home. They learn about lines, colors, shapes, patterns, unity, balance and more by using elements to make imaginative creations. Arts Alley also features Do-A-Dot art and mask making.
The Activity Tent is a constant exploration of games and amusements organized by local businesses including “Be a DJ” with K-STAR Country 99.7 FM, exploring and learning about musical instruments, fishing for prizes, a “pupcake” walk, making “wonder dough” and lots of other great activities. For fitness and nutrition-related fun, children can visit the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands / Ironman Healthy KidZone to participate in physical activities and meet professional sports teams. Kids can learn the techniques of martial arts, go through an obstacle course, explore an ambulance, visit the teddy bear clinic and play a giant game “Operation.” For added adventure, kids looking for a challenge can climb a towering rock wall and roll, flip, run and spin on water without getting wet in a giant Bubble Runner.

Tickets for the 16th Annual Children’s Festival are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. This admission fee includes every show and activity for the day. Children age 2 and under are free. Picnics are welcome, but beverages can not be brought into the venue.
Preferred parking is available in the on-site Town Center Garage, located along Six Pines Drive. Parking is $5 per vehicle for this and most performing arts events. Tickets for on-site parking can be purchased in advance at all Ticketmaster locations and The Pavilion Box. Guests also may park in any of the five free parking lots on the southwest side of The Pavilion. The free, color-coded lots are connected to The Pavilion by corresponding pathways with signs leading across The Waterway.
