The summer heat is upon us, so don’t forget to drink plenty of water and protect your skin from the sun when you are working or attending an event.
Congratulations - To Elizabeth Johnson and Kristen Titus, the winners of the drawing for the membership recruiting incentive. A big thank you goes to all who participated by inviting friends and neighbors to become new Partners event volunteers. Elizabeth and Kristen will each receive a $25 gift certificate for dinner out at Chili’s, Macaroni Grill, On the Border or Maggiano’s.
15th Annual Children’s Festival - Join the fun! The first planning meeting for Children’s Festival has been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 14th at noon in The Pavilion Conference room. Committee members help in the planning for the Activity Tent, Arts Alley, Healthy Kids Zone, Community Stage, Fun Zone and Partners Hat Booth. KISS – Partners will host a pre-concert dinner and fund-raiser on Friday, September 17 in the House of Blues Hospitality Tent at The Pavilion. Tickets will include a social hour and buffet dinner before the show, a VIP Club Pass and reserved seating for the KISS performance. A live auction and silent auction will be held featuring hotel, dinner, travel, sports and theater packages and more! Pre-Concert Fund-raiser Committee – Would you like to be part of this exciting event? Then make plans to attend an informational planning committee meeting on Wednesday, July 14th at 5:30 p.m. at Vino 100. The committee will be responsible for planning the decorations, logistics, live and silent auctions, invitations, underwriting and table sponsorships. Please join Dixie Cope and Kelly Messenger, co-chairs, in the Tasting Room at Vino 100 located at 6700 Woodlands Parkway in the Sterling Ridge Shopping Center. Event Volunteer Orientation – The next Event Volunteer Orientation for new Partners has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 10th beginning at 6:00 p.m. (please note the change of date from July 25). Participants need to arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. and plan to stay for the entire training which will be approximately 3.5 hours. The orientation will be held in The Woodforest Bank Club located at The Pavilion. Being an event volunteer is an exciting way for Partners to support our mission of “Bringing People and the Arts Together”. Thank you to all who volunteered for the Star-Spangled Salute! It was a great evening of patriotic fun. Thanks goes to Bunny Benditz and her committee for designing the delightful red, white & blue bracelets for the children’s craft tent and to our PALs, Angela Gott and Tom Rafferty, for welcoming our new Partners volunteers.
Partners PALs – “Hi, I’m your Partners PAL.” You may have already met one of our Partners Pals while volunteering at the symphony or a contemporary concert. These special volunteers are assigned to each event at The Pavilion. They are there to welcome everyone and to answer any questions you may have as an event volunteer.
Live From the Woodlands, It’s Saturday Night! – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion will host Saturday Night Live with musical guests, The Blues Brothers featuring Dan Aykroyd & Jim Belushi on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel. The gala benefits the Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Digital Camera Needed – Partners is seeking the donation of a new or “nearly new” digital camera for use at its events. We would prefer a Sony, Nikon or Canon. If you have one to donate, please contact Keith Ferry a [email protected].
Hours Worked - This season volunteers will periodically receive an update listing the number of shows and hours worked. Please check the update against your own records for any discrepancy. Contact Charlotte Weschler, [email protected] with any questions or corrections.
