Thanks to all our volunteers for offering their time and talent to promote Partners’ mission of “Bringing People and the Arts Together.”


14th Annual Wine Dinner -   Partners 14th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction held on The Pavilion’s stage on March 25 was a great success.  Thanks go to co-chairmen, Randy Lowry and Candi Glenn, together with their planning committee.  It was a sold-out event with 210 guests attending.   Over $129,000 was raised which set a new record.   Approximately $89,000 of the proceeds will benefit Partners Fine Arts Scholarship Program and $40,000 will benefit The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs. 

Hats Off to Reading – Volunteers are needed to help with the Hats Off to Reading Celebration preceding The Art of Baseball symphony performance on April 25.  Hats Off to Reading promotes student literacy and a love of reading.  The event is held in the House of Blues Hospitality Tent.  Children are able to take a free book home and participate in fun activities such as a book walk, coloring contest, hat making and face painting.  Partners are needed from 5–7 p.m. to assist with the activities.  To sign up, contact Leslie Williams at [email protected]. 

Musical Scores – It is time for Partners to sign up for Musical Scores scheduled for Wed., May 9.  Musical Scores serves “at-risk”, underprivileged middle school students who earn the opportunity to attend a special event and concert at The Pavilion by displaying model behavior and achieving specific scholastic goals.  Students are treated to a free performance, t-shirt and lunch.  Come join the excitement as we welcome 5,500 students to The Pavilion for a day of fun!  Please arrive at 8 a.m. for orientation and a delicious breakfast in the Woodforest Bank Club and plan to remain until around 2 p.m.  Parking is in the God Lot parking garage located off Six Pines.  Event and performing arts volunteers are to sign up online at

Musical Scores Lunch Preparation ­– Lots & lots of volunteers are needed to help pack 5,500 sack lunches for the students attending Musical Scores.  We will gather in the House of Blues Tent located inside the VIP gate at The Pavilion on Tues., May 8 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.  This is always a fun way to get together with other Partners.  Dress is casual.  If you are able to help out, please sign up online at

Fine Arts Education Day - Volunteers are needed for Fine Arts Education Day on Wed., May 23 at The Pavilion when fourth and sixth grade students from Conroe ISD will visit The Pavilion for a Houston symphony performance.  Partners will welcome students off their buses and direct them to their seats.  The event begins at 10:30 a.m. and is over at noon.  Please arrive at 8:30 a.m. for orientation with breakfast in the Woodforest Bank Club and plan to remain until 12:30 p.m.  Parking is in the Gold Lot parking garage located off Six Pines.  Event and performing arts volunteers are to sign up online at

Volunteering for Educational Events – Musical Scores and Fine Arts Education Day are two of the educational events sponsored by The Pavilion.  Working at educational events is open to all qualified Partners volunteers.  New volunteers must submit a background authorization, photo release and photo ID at least two week before the event in order to be a qualified volunteer.  To request the forms and for additional information, contact [email protected].  

YMCA Healthy Kids Day – will be held on April 28 from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Creekside YMCA Adventure Center, The Woodlands.  Ten volunteers are needed to take our Instrument Petting Zoo out to share with our community.  Over 800 guests are expected.  Please contact Leslie Williams at [email protected] to volunteer. One event credit will be given. 

Pavilion Partners April Social – Please join Partners for our 2nd Annual Brewery Tour at the Southern Star Brewery.  Plan on meeting at 12:45 p.m. at the brewery located at N. FM 3083 E, Conroe, Texas.  The taps open at 1 p.m. and the tour will start at 2 p.m.   Please try to arrive sooner than later in order for us to be seated together.  It is a very busy place and spots to sit go quickly!  Snacks will be provided.  This is a free event so bring a friend!

Renew Your Membership Today -   Your continued support is appreciated and we hope you will join Partners again this season.  Please remember that membership dues need to be received and processed before you may sign up for events and be issued your badge.  Click here to sign up on line. 

Membership Recruitment – It is time for Partners to invite new members to join our organization.  The best way to gain volunteers is to invite your friends, co-workers and family members.  Please invite interested guests to attend one of our Partners Performing Arts Volunteer trainings.   The next trainings will be held on Wed., May 2 from 1-3 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. in the Woodforest Bank Club located at The Pavilion.  Your guests may choose which training is more convenient.   You are our best advertisement!

Recruiting Incentive – The Partners Board would like to encourage you to expand our membership this season.  Therefore, Partners will be awarded one opportunity to win dinner for two for each new member who joins Partners as an event volunteer qualifying for a 2012 season badge.  The drawing will be at the New Member Party in June.  In addition, event volunteers will receive one event credit for recruiting one or more qualified volunteers.   Let’s see if we can bring in 100 new volunteers.

Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival – Thanks to all who have signed up to work one or more shifts at the upcoming Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, April 14 & 15.  There are still limited openings for volunteers.  If you wish to sign up please visit their website at for online registration and additional information.  Please indicate that you would like your volunteer hours to benefit THE PAVILION PARTNERS when you report for each shift.    Partners is one of the festival’s charity partners and receives a percentage of the WWAF community donation based on its volunteer hours.  You do not need to be an event volunteer or even a member of Partners to participate.  Event volunteers will receive one event credit per volunteer shift.

From the Desk of Your Partners’ President: One of my nieces came to stay with me last summer. While she was here she attended the performance of Houston Ballet at the Pavilion. She thought the performance was stellar, but she couldn’t get over why there were so many empty seats. Especially when the concert was free!


That started me thinking. With all of the wonderful fine arts performances that we have here at the Pavilion, how can we get more people to attend? Perhaps we just need to invite our neighbors, co-workers and friends. Believe it or not, a lot of your neighbors just don’t know what they are missing.


For example, my neighbors across the street are a young family with two small boys. They felt their boys were too young for the symphony. But, once I told them about the Instrument Petting Zoo and Children’s Craft Table, they were almost ready to commit. But, with a 4 and 6 year old, they felt that maybe the boys were still too young. Then I told them about the lawn seating. Their resistance to come was that they were afraid that their boys wouldn’t be able to sit through a full concert. But the lawn is a great place for young families to be a little more relaxed. And now they have made plans to come as a family to Giselle and hopefully, this will be the start of many family outings to The Pavilion.


Another neighbor was out washing his car last weekend. I stopped to chat with him about the usual neighborhood gossip and then invited him to the symphony. He told me that he and his wife didn’t like classical music (I hear this a lot). People always say that about “classical” music. But I did find out that he likes Broadway shows, and that opened the door to talk to him about our “Pops” series. He really is a big kid at heart, and was interested in the Bugs Bunny show. He likes cartoons. Go figure. I saw him yesterday and he wanted the date, time and ticket info. He thought this might be a great show to entertain his business clients. I agree.


My point is that we have lots of empty seats and lawn space for the people that we know to attend these events. My niece could not believe that a small town like The Woodlands has this level of fine arts available to them, and more importantly, that more of the community does not come out to support it. People will come if you invite them.

We have a great line up this season and fun for the whole family. Bugs Bunny, Baseball, Giselle, and it’s not too early to have your friends save the date for Hocus Pocus Pops and our Holiday Show.


As a Pavilion Partner, our community sees you as an ambassador, someone “in the know” about what’s going on at The Pavilion. So spread the word! Invite them and they will come.
