Hocus Pocus Pops –15 more volunteers are needed for this Houston Symphony performance on October 12th. There will be lots of activities including the Halloween Express touring the Haunted Grounds, the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s Bug Chef David Temple cooking up tasty critters for guests to try and the House of Blues Hospitality Tent with Radio Disney’s Graveyard Smash Dance Party featuring the Radio Disney Boo Crew. If you have not had an opportunity to attend a symphony as a guest or as a volunteer, please join us.
Children’s Festival - The Children’s Festival committee is hard at work preparing for an incredible 2012 event. The website is available for Partners to register to volunteer, please sign up early! Also if you know organizations or groups (boy or girl scouts, high school clubs, churches, companies, etc.) interested in volunteering, contact Courtney Galle [email protected] or Leslie Williams [email protected].
If you know of anyone who would like to join Partners and volunteer at the children’s festival we are offering performing arts training on Thursday, October 18th in the conference room located at in the Administrative Building here at The Pavilion. Two times are offered:
· 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
· 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

If you refer a new member to Partners, and they attend training on October 18th plus work at least one shift at Children’s Festival, you will receive a gift card from a local establishment ranging from 15.00 to 100.00 in value. You also receive an event credit for the referral.
Events Worked – An update of the number of event credits earned by Partners volunteers will be sent out by the end of this week (Oct 5th). If you do not receive an update or have any corrections or questions, please contact Leslie Williams, volunteer and special events coordinator, at [email protected]. It is recommended that volunteers keep their own record of events worked in case there is a discrepancy. Please let Leslie know if your badge is due for an upgrade.
Pavilion Partners October Social –So you think you want to be famous? Lone Star College-Montgomery’s first show of the 2012-13 theatre season, Somebody/Nobody by Jane Martin, is all about poking fun of celebrities and the fact that either you’re famous and have what it takes—or you don’t.
“Somebody/Nobody takes a hard, but hilarious look at what the acquisition of fame does to both body and soul,” said Tim Campbell, associate professor of drama at LSC-Montgomery. “Any human being who has secretly longed to see his or her name in lights will recognize the outrageous behavior of Martin's quirky characters.”
Performance will be held in the mainstage theatre of the Performing Arts Center (Building D Saturday, October 13, at 7:30 p.m. Please watch for an Evite from the social committee, or rsvp to [email protected].
Partners Cookbook Committee Seeking Volunteers -The committee is looking for people that are excited about this fun and interesting project, members that have worked on cook book projects before (experience is always a plus), but also those with talents in writing, photography, marketing, graphic arts, online publishing, cooking…and tasting!
Please RSVP with your interest to join the committee and/or just show up on Monday October 15th at 1pm in The Woodforest Bank Club!
Wine Dinner Committee - The second 2013 Wine Dinner Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 8th at 11:00am in the conference room here at The Pavilion admin building. This exciting and rewarding event is in its 15th year!!
The Pavilion Partners established the Wine Dinner & Auction fundraiser to provide financial support to graduating high school seniors and renewal scholarship recipients from the north Houston area who are pursuing degrees in the performing and visual arts. Proceeds are divided into $1,000 and $2,000 scholarships.
The committee is off to a great start, however there is still room for more members. Please RSVP with your interest to join the committee and/or just show up if you would like to explore the committee before you make a decision.
