News for May 2013
Happy Memorial Day!
HOPE YOU HAD A NICE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, REMEMBER TO THANK A SOLDIER FOR THEIR SERVICE ANY TIME YOU MEET ONE…
Thanks to all our volunteers for offering their time and talent to promote The Pavilion Partners mission of “Bringing People and the Arts Together.”
From the Desk of Your Partners’ President:
Hello Fellow Partners:
With summer here the concert season is in full swing. This may be the best concert season we have had in quite a while. It seems that there are great concerts almost every weekend. From Mumford & Sons June 12, PitBull & Ke$ha June 22, Barry Manilow June 30, John Mayer June 12, Kid Rock July 19, Black Sabbath July 25, Brad Paisley July 28 to Keith Urban Aug 16.
There is something for everyone with more to be announced in coming weeks. With all of these events there are many opportunities to volunteer. One thing to remember when volunteering at the events this summer is to stay hydrated. We all know how hot Texas summers can be and they just seem to be getting hotter every year. You can never drink enough water.
So, I would urge you the next time you volunteer to always have a bottle of water with you. Also, if you feel tired or overheated talk to a supervisor or go take a break inside to cool off. We want everyone to be safe and to have a great time at the Pavilion. See you out there!
New Members Party - Mark your calendars for The Pavilion Partners New Member Party. The event is for all our volunteers honoring our new members. All Partners are invited! It will be held on Fri., June 7 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Woodforest Bank Club located at The Pavilion. Watch for an Evite with more details. Be sure to make plans to attend as this is always an awesome, fun-filled evening and great opportunity to meet our new Partners.
Annual Wine Dinner & Auction - Please save the date March 30 2014. The first Wine Dinner & Auction Committee meeting is scheduled for Mon. June 10 at 3 pm in the conference room here at The Pavilion admin building. This exciting and rewarding event is in its 16th year! The Pavilion Partners established the Wine Dinner & Auction fundraiser to provide financial support to graduating high school seniors and renewal scholarship recipients from the north Houston area who are pursuing degrees in the performing and visual arts. Proceeds are divided into $1,000 and $2,000 scholarships.
Please RSVP with your interest to join the committee and/or just show up if you would like to explore the committee before you make a decision.
New Members Performing Arts Training – Thur. June 6. There are two informational meetings for new Partners who haven’t attended and are interested in being a Performing Arts Volunteer. If you are just exploring Partners you are welcome also, bring a friend.
Volunteers may choose to attend at 1 or 6 p.m. Each session lasts approximately an hour and a half. This is a great way to find out more about our volunteer program. A mini-tour of The Pavilion will be included. If you plan to attend or would like more information, please contact Leslie Williams at 281-210-1125 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Texas Music Festival Orchestra June 14 – We need lots of Partners to volunteer for this event! More than 100 gifted musicians from around the world are showcased in a free concert titled Legendary Masterpieces. In conjunction with the Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival, an intensive four-week study program at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, the Texas Music Festival Orchestra takes the stage June 14.
The Pavilion welcomes the Boys Scouts of America at Texas Music Festival where they will be completing their Music Merit Badge. Participants can start by visiting the Boy Scouts Resource booth in the North Plaza to obtain the Music Merit Badge workbook and concert program. Next they can visit the Partners Instrument Petting Zoo and Arts & Crafts booth. Finally, they can visit The Woodlands School of Rock on the Side Stage and the Texas Music Festival Orchestra on the main stage to listen to two different stylistic live performances. For more information email Leslie Williams.
“Long Hot Summer” – Partners Pre-Concert Dinner & Fundraiser will be held prior to the Keith Urban with Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch Light the Fuse Tour. Tickets are $200 per person and include special reserved seating at the concert, dinner and VIP club pass. The event will be held in the House of Blues Hospitality Tent at The Pavilion. Funds raised will benefit The Pavilion’s performing arts events and educational outreach programs. Guests may RSVP online by visiting www.woodlandscenter.org. If you are interested in serving on this committee, the next meeting will be held June 3 at 6pm at The Woodlands Wine Company. Owner Kelly Messinger is a Co-Chair of the Pre-Concert Dinner & Fundraiser and supports The Pavilion in many ways. Woodlands Wine Co. is a locally owned and operated wine shop and tasting bar conveniently located in the Sterling Ridge Shopping Center near the corner of Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl in The Woodlands.
