Educational Outreach
pavilion talk Educational outreach is an integral part of the mission of The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The Pavilion uses the appeal of live performances to introduce children and youth, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or socio-economic status, to the world of performing arts.

Some form of music, dance, drama or song can capture the attention and engagement of all young people. Consequently, The Pavilion has developed programs to support fine arts students, offer academic and social incentives, foster new audiences, and provide community enrichment opportunities. Additionally, The Pavilion offers thousands of complimentary tickets for its performing arts events to economically challenged students and families within the Greater Houston area, as well as to numerous charities and senior citizen organizations every year.

Supporting Fine Art Students
The Pavilion offers many programs that support fine arts students within the Greater Houston area. These programs include scholarships for students studying fine arts, educational experiences with the Houston Symphony for area students, and orchestral performances by young musicians that the public can enjoy.

Academic & Social Incentives
By offering academic and social incentives for area students, The Pavilion encourages positive behavior in school and in life. These incentive-based programs include Musical Scores, a free event offered as a reward for students, and internships that give high school and college students real world experience working for a performing arts venue. Also, the Hats Off to Reading Celebration is a free event that encourages children to develop a lifelong love of reading.

Foste New Audiences

Black, a prominent scholar and college professor. Children’s Festival invites children of all ages to experience and develop a love of the arts at an early age.

Academic & Social Incentives

The Texas Music Festival Orchestra, a performance featuring more than 100 gifted young musicians from around the world, is an annual free event where the audience can listen to the future of orchestral music. Children’s Festival, a four-day interactive event for students and families, is designed to educate and entertain elementary and intermediate school students within the community.
